If i were to be tested at a clinic for HIV or any STD would it show up on my insurance?

My boyfriend and I want to be safe and be tested, but as many young adults, our families deal with our health insurance. We don't want to them to worry, we just want to make sure that we're safe.
I'm looking for absolute answers from a professional. thank you.

I would go to an anonymous testing facility. Not a confidential one - an anonymous one. And I would pay for the testing out of my pocket.

The word "confidential" still means that your name can (and in some cases must) be given to certain people. In fact, I'll bet that your parents signed something that gives their (and your) insurance company the right to any and all medical records for you and your family - regardless of who pays. That doesn't mean that the insurance company will find out - but it means that they could.

The word "anonymous" means that the testing place never even takes your name. So they CAN'T give anyone your test results.

Do a websearch for "anonymous STD testing" and perhaps the name of your state, province or country and see what you find.

Yes, the tests will show up on the itemized insurance statements. But in some cases...a generic notation to the lab that ran the tests is all that will be listed. It's different, depending on the insurance.

Only if you give them (the clinic) your insurance information.
