Does this make me more prone to HIV infection?

I tested negative for HIV today and at first I was happy. Now im back in my paranoid state of mind. All I keep thinkin about is that the Rapid HIV Test was a false negative. I was wondering if a weakened immune system could cause a false negative. I just got over a second case of mono and my immune system is very weak from that. Im scared that the test came up negative because of this. Tell me if I sound crazy and need to stop worrying so much or if I should go get tested again.

Also my possible exposure was almost 8 months ago, that was the last time I had sex. Sorry if that is too much info!

I think you r ok. To be at ease just go to take blood test. I remember i did both when i found out my ex was out cheating. God must have been with me because both came back negative. He has herpes and HIV and i had neither. One thing I have learned is that you cannot trust no one even sometimes your own love. You will not be any longer worried if you just go take another test. Those rapid test are pretty good tho, at the clinic i work at they have been on point every time.

Usually, you should test within the three to six month range for your results to be accurate. Since you've stated that you have tested eight months afterwards, your results are definitive IF you have not had any other risky exposures to the virus. In that case you would need to get tested again at the three months mark from exposure and then again at the six month mark.

I would not worry so much about the HIV test you took today as much as:
MAKING SURE YOU USE CONDOMS EVERY TIME YOU HAVE SEX FROM NOW ON. allright?

Condoms prevent babies AND germs.

If you are that worried you should get blood work done .
so that you know for sure.

get tested 6 months after possible infection, and stop worrying now. Then you will know for sure

Hey, could you answer a few more questions?

First, when was your possible exposure to HIV?
Second, what was this exposure?

FYI, a weakened immune system will NOT cause a false negative. If you had a second case of mono, that's a good sign it's NOT HIV (assuming it was a relapse). Acute HIV syndrome, that many people get after infection, has sometimes similar symptoms to mono, but you NEVER would get a relapse.

If your possible exposure was within 6 weeks, and you're negative, you're almost definitely likely fine. Three months, that's pretty watertight. Six months is rarely recommended anymore.

I need more information, but I'm going to go with, "stop worrying!"

Good luck!

ADDITIONAL PART: 8 MONTHS AGO MEANS YOUR TEST IS VERY ACCURATE AND YOU ARE IN THE CLEAR! THE TEST PICKS UP ANTIBODIES FOR HIV IF THEY ARE IN YOUR BLOODSTREAM. ANY OTHER ILLNESS YOU MIGHT HAVE WOULD NOT SHOW UP!!

if u tested negative then be happy. if u r still paranoid then get it done again, but certainly in a different lab so that no doubts remain and at least one worry is taken care of.
Your being so paranoid indicates that u are habitually having unprotected sex with starngers. Either stop it or use a condom, if u r male, and insist upon a condom if u r a female.
as regards to relapse / second time infections or same disease, u may see a doctor. let me tell u that there is nothing abnormal in getting relapse of the same disease and obviously during viral/ bacterial infection, the immune system is weak. but it automatically and with related treatment gets back to normal.
so don't worry and be happy
