I have a friend who is HIV positive. What does the viral load test mean? Is it really a meaure of health?

beacause when my friend had a high viral load he felt the same almost

A viral load test is ordered when a patient is first diagnosed with HIV. The test result functions as a baseline measurement that shows how actively the virus is reproducing and whether treatment is immediately necessary.

If and when therapy is started, your doctor should order a viral load test and a CD4 count about two to eight weeks after you start a treatment to evaluate whether therapy is being effective. To monitor long-term therapy, your doctor will order viral load tests and CD4 counts about every three to six months.

Hope this helps!

The viral load test shows how much virus there is per measurement of blood. A low or undetectable viral load is good, usually a sign the medications are working.

A high viral load usually means the medications are not working (IF he's on meds) and that it is time to consider a new combination of medications.

The higher the viral load the easier it is to pass the infection on, the lower the viral load the lower the chances of infecting a partner.

There are many indicators for a measure of health, and again with the viral load it is a sign for medications. A bigger indicator of health is the T-cell count, the lower the T-cell the greater chance of infections and if the T-cell count drops below 200, it will then become an AIDS diagnosis.

Viral load test, tests the amount of virus active in the body. Lower viral levels help insure a longer healthier life with HIV. Higher viral loads can cause more body damage and shorten life span with HIV/AIDs. If the viral count is high, meds need to be adjusted to keep that viral count low and prevent more bodily harm. The person doesn't always feel sick, but for long term healthiness the viral count needs to be lowered.

A viral load test is just to see how much active virus is in someones body. A high load is not good.

Please see the detailed answer I gave you when you asked this question earlier.
