STD test from a general blood test? |
If I had a general blood test at a physical a few weeks ago, and everything was normal... would that include any STDS and HIV? Would std's and hiv come up on a general physical blood test? Some infections may make one or more of your CBC results out of "normal" range (such as increased white blood cell count meaning there may be an infection (or something else). The prior responder is correct; a separate test is required for each disease being tested for to be specific about an STD. Tests for HIV and other STDs are specific, and I know HIV tests (and possibly other STD tests) require written consent, so unless you ask for those tests, they would not be done automatically in a general physical blood test. no it would not come up under the general blood tests like the cbc...your doctor has to specifically check off the boxes for them and you have to sign for the hiv test.... No. You have to ask for specific tests. |
