Worried about HIV when pregnant..?

i attend my midwife when pregnant..when i miss an appointment she will always ring out and remind me of importance, but friday i got blood tests done, and they test for HIV/AIDS. i am worried about this as i have been promiscious when younger.i didn't go in for results monday. so she calls me tues afternoon to remind me i missed it.midwife clinic is only monday and tuesday each week.i say i will come in but she reschedules it for tuesday 2 weeks time at 2pm.says it is important i come.i was afraid to ask her for bloods, i am worried i could be HIV Positive or wud i have been told before now...help???

You took the test, what's the point in avoiding the results. Your going to find out sooner or later so just get the results. I know it can be nerve wracking, but imagine you didn't have any diseases! It will be so much relief than living in constant worry....

If you had something like HIV detected in your blood, in my opinion, it is something I believe she would have told you when she called you. Something that serious seems like something she should/would have told you right away. The only thing you can do is call her back and discuss your worries and get your results. Tell her waiting 2 weeks is difficult and you would like it if she could discuss your blood results with you sooner. Just call and ask. That is what they are there for. Remember not to miss your appointments though. It is important for the health of the baby! :-) Good luck!

They won't tell you if your hiv positive over the phone! They have to call you in. Stressing about it just makes it worse!

I already answered this question bout 1/2 hour ago - take my advice from there.

You've already asked this same question under a different name. Why not listen to the answers on that one?!

First of all you were the one that missed the appointment, if you were that worried about it you should have made it a priority. Now you have to wait.
Secondly, you are required to visit the doctor in person to receive results of an HIV test. They do not give these results out over the phone- positive or negative. They require the person be told in person if they have HIV because they want to be able to provide information and counseling if need be. If they started giving out negative results over the phone, then people would know if they were called in that they were HIV positive and might do something dramatic once they heard they had to come in (knowing that going in means HIV+).

Next time act like an adult and attend your scheduled appointments. If for some reason you cannot make it have the courtesy to call so that the doctor may reschedule someone else who needs to be seen.
