Is it possible for a man to have HIV infection from 1992 and the mother and children age 3 & 4 be tested -? |
A patient said he tested positive for the virus in 1992. He said he and his girlfriend decided they wanted a baby ( knowing he was positive). He sais his children and their mom tested negative. The children are only 3 and 4 years old. He said his t-cells and cd4 are really high and the doctor said " You are the healthiest sick person I ever seen". Is this really possible? He said even his ex- wife tested negative also. Sperm donors? it is possible for them to have a child and the child not get infected. Just like it is possible for the mother to be infected and the child nor the husband get infected. I am having my first child and my husband and I found out I was HIV+. so far, my husband has tested negative. After our baby is born, if I am still OK in 2 or 3 year from now we are having another child. It just happens in a different way since we can no longer have unprotected sex. Yes this is possible. HIV does not automatically develop into full blown AIDS. In some cases, it can lie dormant for years. There is also a less than 100% chance that it will be passed on to sexual partners and an approximately 50% chance that the virus will breach the blood barrier IF the mother is already infected. It's theoretically POSSIBLE, but though wildly unlikely. It's always a matter of chance whether the virus will be transmitted sexually or through blood, and if he has a really low viral load (implied by the high t-cell count), the chances might be lower for him than for most people. If this did happen, I'd say they're all just really, really lucky. It's possible if he only had sex with his wives with condoms unless he was trying to have a baby. It's possible for an hiv+ woman to not pass it on to her child so it seems just as likely that a man doesn't pass it on. There are so many factors that are involved with these things so I'll leave it at the short answer of yes, it's possible. It is possible, because HIV is not transmitted 100% of the time. Also, women who have HIV can take meds and other precautions in order to reduce the risk that their babies will be born infected. Well keep in mind that it can take years before it becomes active and shows up. I would recommend that the children, wife and ex-wife continue to get tested every year. yes possible Yup. |
