How shortly after contracting aids or hiv will it show up in tests? |
How shortly after contracting aids or hiv will it show up in tests? usually between 4 to 12 month. It can take up to 6 month sto show up, but usually will show up by about 3 months. If you ar esuspected of having HIV they will test you once and then again at 3, 6, and I think 12 months. or something like that. This is because to detect it they test the antibodies your body makes to the virus and your body make take a while to build up these antibodies to be detected. If you think you have been exposed, there is the possibility that by taking HIV meds immediately after exposure can prevent the the virus from taking hold. If you think you may have been exposed, don't wait. See your doctor ASAP. It can take 3-4 months for HIV antibodies to show up in tests. In VERY RARE cases, it can take up to 6 months to show up. |
