1) Good for my kid - national pride and a sense of responsibility.
2) Good for my kid - Able to rise above cultural boundaries
3) Shame on ME for not teaching my kid how to protect himself/herself

Enlisting in the army oh that would hurt deeply.
An interracial marriage is wonderful, now could my new son in laws mother give me some of her recipes I would love to know more about his families culture.
You child tested positive for HIV that would be so painful but mistakes are made I guess that would hurt me because I have tried to make them conscious of the dangers out there.

If I have a kids he/she will know better than to go into the army (thats my child I dont want him/her to get their butt whipped or even killed)

If your kid wants to serve his or her country, great.
If your kid kid finds true love, great.
If your kid is HIV+, maybe they have a no good, dirty, lying cheating significant other and got it through no fault of their own.

#2 would be a sign I've failed as a parent. #3 would also be if the circumstances involved promiscuity or homosexuality.

None of those. I think parents can only fail if they abuse or kill their kids. What kids do is out of their parent's control.
