Blood tests and HIV....?

i was concerned i had HIV so i went and informed my GP and she sent me for a blood test.....i got the results today and both samples of blood were perfectly fine. if i had HIV would i have had some abnormal cells?

yea they would of picked up the hiv? but if it was perfect then you dont have hiv

Timing is everything! Your body needs time to produce HIV antibodies which are what- if HIV were an ordinary virus- your immune system would use to 'flag' the virus and destroy it with white cells (T cells). These antibodies must be detectable in enough quantity with the usual "ELISA" test to trigger a positive test.

Back to the timing- there is an expensive test, an RNA test which can detect HIV in about 2 weeks. However it's not only expensive but not available everywhere. So the ELISA test should be done about 3 months after suspected exposure. This will accurately show up *most* HIV positive people. But there is a small percentage who will give a false negative at 3 months, so a second reliable test should be done at 6 months to be 100% sure.

So at 3 months: A positive result means you are HIV +. A negative results means you are *almost* certainly HIV negative.
At 6 months:A positive result means you are HIV +. A negative results means you are certainly HIV negative.

No if you would of had it they check yor blood for where there are lots of white blood cells in a particular area. Your cells aren't abnormal it's just that your white blood cell count becomes very low due to trying to fight it off however in the beginning they realize you have it if on your cells sthere are lots of white blood cells grouped by it because then they are attacking the cell! Hope this helped!

If your HIV blood test came back negative, then you do not have HIV. Today's tests are so sensitive and specific that there is almost no chance for a false negative.

If the doctor has sent You 4 test & it came back clear You have nothing to worry about.& HIV only show in HIV test not in normal blood count.

You have nothing to worry about if it came back clear you are ok. If you are worried get tested 3 months from now.
