Why you have to see a doctor to have HIV test? i wanna make a test but i need privacy? no walk-in tests?

I spent all day trying to find a lab. where i can make HIV test and couldn't find one. they all need references from a doctor. They should let people test on their own without references?
I live in Alabama.

If you have a family planning I would try that, they usually teat for free, along with the local health department.

You can get confidential testing at your local Department of Health office or Planned Parenthood. You do not need references from a doctor, but you do need to sign a consent form for the test, and results can't be released to anyone without your written consent.

Head to your nearest CVS or Walgreens drug store! They usually stock new FDA approved at home HIV testing kits. They are really easy to use and require you to prick your finger with an easy to use applicator. You place a few drops on a test pad, secure it in a plastic pouch and mail it off for results. Then you wait a week and call a 1-800 number to obtain your results using a discreet identification number. I hope this helps.

Because legally they cannot perform a test without a written order from the doctor and they won't get paid for it. It is also a liability issue because if you are positive you will need counseling and the care of a doctor to keep you from getting sick.

If you need privacy, you may go to online doctor on the std social and dating site called pozcupid.com. Just register a free account and send your question to their std counselor.
