Likelihood of Blood Infection?

This didn't happen. It's entirely theoretical.

A known drug user, high risk of transmittable blood diseases, is scratched by a frantic cat. A second person catches the cat, who also gets scratched. Blood has been drawn by both people.

What tests should the second person have done and when is the soonest he could have them done? And how likely is it that he was infected by something like HIV, syphilis, hepatitis? What else could he be infected with?

Sorry I'm asking more than one question. This MIGHT pertain to a story I'm writing. I'm not sure yet. I usually have people who can answer my questions, but it's hard to find doctors (and lawyers, too) willing to help because they usually think I'm trying to get free advice. "Oh, you're writing a story? And this 'character' has what, exactly? You should just tell this character to make an appointment." Stuff like that.

I am not in any way a medical professional. but I have had sepsis (blood infection) The things you are concerned about are viruses. I do not know the likely hood of the aids. But MRSA, Strep or some other staph infections are possible clean and dress the wounds as soon as possible. It would be best to be seen in the emergency room irregardless of the drug use the persons life is worth more than worrying about the implications of the drug use. I would want a CBC, (complete blood Count), Blood culture, kem-12 panel drawn right away as well as a HIV draw. Be sure to check for fever, nausea, discharge from the wound site etc. The person should be seen by a health car professional as soon as possible and maybe put on a broad form antibiotic such as keflex or bactrium.
