What will be an accuracy of HIV test?

i have unprotected sex wid a bargirl 2.5 months back.i have observed for all the possible symptoms of HIV but found nothing as per mentioned on internet.I have heard about the "WINDOW PERIOD".I am planning to get tested but can anybody tell me how much accurate the test result will be?

The tests are about 99.9% accurate when taken at the proper time.

The window period for most people is at about the 3 month mark; it is very rare for someone to need 6 months to test positive if they have contracted HIV. Testing before 3 months may give you the correct result, but most professionals will tell you that if you can wait for the 3 months you should do so.

Most people who eventually test positive don't actually report having symptoms. Symptoms of HIV are similar to symptoms of anything that could activate your immune system; this is why they are referred to as "flu-like" symptoms. They resemble other health issues.

At 2.5 months, you're probably going to get the correct result, but for peace of mind, you should probably just wait it out; a lot of people start second guessing the test when they take it earlier than is recomended.

Incidentally, not everyone who gets HIV develops AIDS. There are people called "long-term non-progressors" who have HIV and 10, 15 and 20 years later have not progressed to HIV and have never been on medications. Also, people who are in medical care, taking their medication as necessary and taking care of themselves probably will never get an AIDS diagnosis.

Living with HIV/AIDS is no picnic and should be avoided, but it is not a death sentence.

Your test after 2.5 months is going to be pretty accurate as most people generate antibodies after 6-8 weeks. If you tested negative today, it is very unlikely that your negative result becomes positive. But based on the guidlines, 3 months test is considered conclusive. You can get tested now and get a peace of mind and then confirm it with another test in two weeks.

Also I have to mention that unprotected vaginal sex carries a risk of 1 to 1000 for single episode. So your risk was low. But the risk is not zero. So you have to get tested.

Always use condoms when you do not know the status of your partner.

HIV test, which most people do not understand, cover testing HTLV 1 through 4. Also know that 100% of the people who have HIV will eventually die of AIDS 100%.

These tests do not cover other HIV strains such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which is a form of AIDS. Nor does it cover the other variants of the AIDS/HIV which the original virus has mutated into. The truth is there are over 300 different strains of the HIV.

So sure, the test does have a 99% accuracy rate for HTLV 1 through 4; however, the tests are deficient to test the other strains. The best way to determine if you have a virus which destroys the human immunity system is to have a test done on your T-4 cell count and see if something is going on there.

Many many people world wide die each day from an AIDS related complex yet they tested negative for HIV and the cause of death gets written off in the medical report as something other than AIDS when in reality it was a form of AIDS which caused the break down in the immunity system.

I recommend you read the free book on the Internet entitled: "Full Disclosure the Truth About the AIDS Epidemic" by Gary L. Glum who happens to be the #1 authority on this subject matter.

The window period is the time from infection until a test can detect any change. The average window period with antibody tests is 22 days. Antigen testing cuts the window period to approximately 16 days and NAT (Nucleic Acid Testing) further reduces this period to 12 days.

A large study of HIV testing in 752 U.S. laboratories reported a sensitivity of 99.7% and specificity of 98.5% for enzyme immunoassay, and studies in U.S. blood donors reported specificities of 99.8% and greater than 99.99%. With confirmatory Western blot, the chance of a false-positive identification in a low-prevalence setting is about 1 in 250 000.

Hope this helps!

Right now your answer would be pretty fairly accurate, yet the CDC reccomends waiting 3 months to be sure. There are also cases of some not sero-converting until 6 months, although this is very rare. Hope this helps!

If you think you have it... YOU HAVE IT. Hope it was worth it pal. Make your peace with your loved ones and enemies and prepare a premature death.

They run about 99% or better. No test is perfect, due to human error, but if the test is done right, it's pretty much certain.

if it hasn't been 3 months yet, it may be a false-negative and you should be retested in a month, then 6 months.

The test is made, and has been been refined to be 100% accurate.

99% or better but none are perfect.

99.9%

can be untraceable for 6 mths

i herd it was pretty accurate.
