How long do you have to wait to get a hiv test done since infection |
how long do you have to wait to get a hiv test done since infection? a person bumped in to me at an intersection at a pedestrian crossing and i was pricked by something that looked like a syringe that was with him. jeez go to the doctors anyway so u can get shots to protect urself, i forget what its called but call the dr! Well when you ask this question you will always get alot of wrong answers..I had my gyno tell me you have to test for a year and another doctor told me the 2 and the 3 month post exposure tests are accurate enough. The CDC states it takes the average person only 25 days to develop the antibodies. It is very rare for it to take 6 months. The window period in most states is 3 months. That said..it doesn't TAKE 3 months to develop the antibodies in most people, they develop the antibodies WITHIN 3 months post exposure. The vast majority of people will test positive within the 1st month or 2..Your most likely fine though. If you have the money there is a test you can take that will detect the virus within 2 weeks post exposure..it's expensive but if your really worried I'd talk to your doctor about it..it's probably worth not having to wait around for months to get an accurate test result..your prob fine though Ho scary you poor thing! It takes 3 months exactly to show up in your blood, they use to wait 6 months how bad! So they test you straight after you think you might have been infected and another 3 months later. I just had mine done 2 weeks ago because a gay client at work who regularly gets facials and we do extractions wich make him bleed occasionaly he finally told us he has aids and has had it for 2 years. There are some real fuc, kwitts out there.. Good Luck x my fingers will be crossed Sero-conversion, the initial stage (and possible short-term illness) after infection, usually gets underway within about 3 weeks of exposure. The three months is an absolute outside, nowadays, as testing methods are more accurate than they were when that figure first came about. 3 very long months, and that is horrible.. i hope to god for your sake it was just a diabetes needle or something! Just in case I would wear a condom with your significant other for the next few months.. its sad to have to take such precautions because of some idiot on the street. GL HIV Can take up to years to reveal if you have the disease but be on the safe side and get checked every month...Good Luck hope everything is O.K 12 weeks Not long |
