Afraid of STDs and HIV! Have you ever asked your BF/GF to get a HIV test before you would have sex with them?

In the world we live in today, have you asked your bf or gf to be tested for HIV before having sex? Why or why not? How did you get them to be tested? Did anyone say no and end the relationship? What transpired?

I have asked, and my BF agreed. I was relieved. It made sex better because I knew I was safe. However, it was uncomfortable asking. But, I feel I rather have this one uncomfortable moment, then test positive for HIV, later, and regret being stupid for the rest of my life. Prevention is better than Regret, and having to deal with a life debilitating and threatening disease. In the long run, I found my partner respected me and appreciated that I respected myself and my body. Our relationship in all aspects has never been better.

Answer whether this enhanced your relationship or whether it ended it.

Yes, i asked my boyfriend. I made sure to get myself tested first before asking him, and I showed him a photocopy of the results, and he was happy to do the same for me (some of his friends didnt agree, though). i agree, its just too risky, and a lot of STDs dont have symptoms so you cant always tell just by general health. Its just plain smart. And if a guy wont agee to it, he's not worth having sex with!

no and not gunna cuz its disrespectin.

The only Prevention is using a condom, for obvious reasons.

When things are committed and serious, I agree with the testing prior.

i MARKED THIS QUESTION VERY INTERESTING CAUSE YOUR RIGHT NOW DAYS THERE IS SO MUCH DIFFERENT THINGS U CAN GET FROM SLEEPING WITH SOMEONE. YOU HAVE A GOOD POINT, I BELIEVE EVERYONE SHOULD BE TESTED.

Well, I've never had sex with anyone, but I've always thought that before I did, I would want to know if there's anything either of us would need to look out for. It's not even enough to be a virgin anymore because some STDs can be carried through birth; so even a virgin could carry an STD and infect their partner.

I don't think it's an unreasonable thing to ask. If anything, I would love it if my potential partner asked me to be tested before we were intimate. To me, that says he's serious about the relationship and wants to make sure to follow through with things.
