Can an individual have HIV and test negative for the disease? |
Can an individual have HIV and test negative for the disease? Yes. If they are tested too soon after they are infected, the antibodies might not show up on the test. It usually takes up to 3 months for antibodies to show up, but in extremely rare cases, it can take up to 6 months for antibodies to show up on tests. Yes, they can. Sometimes the antibodies to HIV (which is what shows up in the test) don't develop for 6 months. I think, more usually, though, it's three. If you suspect HIV, then take another test in 6 months. yes it happened to me. i thought i was clear then i had unprotected sex with my partner and gave it to her. |
