Should I Have an HIV Test After Going to Planned Parenthood? Am I Being Paranoid?

I made the mistake of going to Planned Parenthood for a pap test/pelvic exam. I received a copy of my medical records and noticed that the nurse had made several lies. She falsely wrote down that she gave me breast self exam instructions, educated me on STDs, etc. On top of that, both the nurse and medical assistant were extremely rude.

It was such a filthy environment. Anyways, the nurse used a metal speculum while doing the pelvic exam. How are those sanitized? Can I contract HIV if they failed to wash it off between patients? They seem to cut corners and lie and say they educated someone when they didn't/

The thing with this is one could never prove one contracted the virus from that, they could always just say "Well that person could have got it through sex, a tattoo needle, etc.

How do we really know health professionals clean their instruments???

HIV is contracted from bodily fluids, so if there was some "fluids" on the metal speculum and it came in contacts with your body fluids then there is a possibility. Be on the safe side, and get tested, you never know what's in store.

Well whether u went there or not u should have regular STD testing. However, I do think that u should contact the labor board and let them know what is going on. It's very important that they get inspected so that they don't hurt others.

U dont know that they clean their instruments, but if the place was filthy when u walked in then u shouldn't have went through with the appointment 2 begin with.
