Check-up Urine Test and HIV? |
Okay well last time i went on a check-up and the doctor needed some Urine. To "test" can anyone tell me do they test for HIV and STD's? Or What do they check in your urine? To test for HIV they use blood. NOT URINE. The HIV virus is not found in urine. This is why your chances of catching it from something like a toilet seat is about 0. They are checking for ketones which indicate diabetes and also infection. HIV and the STD's are diagnosed with blood tests or swab samples of lesions that are ordered individually. I believe most states are like MO where I live in that you and only you can consent to HIV testing, however the others dont need consent. The dr would run the tests only if he thought you had one of them like syphilllis If it was during a normal visit it was just to check for infections and other activities of your body organs. You need to request STD and HIV testing. they check for bacteria and other pathogens that are responsible for std's and sti's. They could come from the bladder, urethra and other parts of the reproductive/urinary system |
