HIV Test and abnormal LFT?

Hey!

I recently went to see my doctor who requested a LFT and HIV test for me.

My HIV test (Antigen and Antibody) came back negative which was done at 5 months (21 weeks) post exposure, but my LFT shows a high level of bilirubins (53, Normal is 4 - 20) in my blood possibly because of Jaundice or gilbert syndrome.

Previously I also had HIV tests (Antigen and Antibody) at 2, 3 & 4 months all came back negative and 2 months back in October last year I was also tested for Hepatitis A, B & C which all came negative too.

My Question is that can a higher level of bilirubin in blood possibly because of jaundice or gilbert syndrome gives a false HIV negative result at 5 months (21 weeks) post exposure?

your answers will be much appreciated

Thanks

A higher level of bilirubin will not cause a false negative HIV antibody result.

An HIV test after the 3 month post-exposure mark is most likely redundant. A negative result at 3 months is considered conclusive unless you suffer from a serious pre-existing immune dysfunction (chemo/radiation, organ transplant recipient, etc).
