Is it possible to test HIV negative twice (ELISA) in a row 3.5 years post exposure and still have HIV? |
Have there ever been documented cases of false negative tests 3.5 years post exposure? (No sexual encounters in between this period) No documented cases and you are not going to be the first one. Actually with modern HIV tests, the antibody is detected around 6-8 weeks after exposure. 3 months is conclusive. You are talking abotu 3.5 YEARS. Way after the window period. There is not way you could have HIV if you did nto have any other risky exposure during this 3.5 years. No. More than 98% of people who have HIV would test positive within 3 months. In very rare cases, it could take up to 6 months for someone to test positive. If you have tested negative 3.5 years after your possible exposure, you are fine. I think it would be highly unlikely but it can go dormant. I've heard it can be "dormant" for 10-15 years, negative test and all. Ask your doc, see what they have to say about it ask Magic jonson hes been around for years. |
