First Prenatal visit?

I had my first prenatal visit yesterday and of course they had to take all kinds of blood samples (5 tubes!!!)... what are they screening for in all that blood???

I know they have to do an HIV, and other std's but what else?
I also had a cat in my first few weeks and they said they had to do another test because of that... why?

The are looking for toxemia as far as the cat goes. It has to do with a toxin that some cats have in the feces. I wouldn't worry about it, especially if it was an indoor cat and you washed your hands after handling the litter.

The also check your blood cell counts, your iron counts, blood type, cholesterol, and thryroid.
