Hiv Results False Negative??? DR's please help!? |
Today i had a rapid hiv test done and my results came back negative. Yet im still convinced I have Hiv and cannot stop thinking about. i put myself in a risky situation two years ago with a guy older than me. I've been living in constant fear that i may have hiv for two years. I was Sooooooo sure my results were going to be positive. But he told me i was negative. I cant exaclty remeber if he wiped my hand with the alcohol swab because I was sooo nervous. If he did not clean my finger tip before he poked me could that have messed up the results? or does it not matter whether it was wiped or not? i think i put lotion on my hands like 15 mins before getting pricked....... Lotion and not cleaning your finger would not give you a false negative. Blood couldn't be contaminated that easily. You think you have HIV for the same reason that every hypochondriac thinks they are dying of cancerous tumor in their brain every time they have a headache. I'm sure your culture will come back negative, and you will be just fine. You're psyching yourself out. OK first of all get some counseling bc you are your own worse enemy right now. Retest in 3 months if you think it is that bad normally it is 6 months and also you can test at home with a swab kit also..once you get 2 negative readings take it for what it is and also be safe from that point on and don't take chance. use spermicide and condoms and always have your own condoms not anyone elses. First of all, if you were positive, you would have been sick by now and that apparently has not happened. You need to re-direct your activities to something other than HIV since you have had a negative test. And, nothing with they way your blood was obtained would alter this test. Get on with your life. I guess your lucky to be negative, you seem to want to be positive. Tests are fairly accurate, get tested in another 30 days, if your negative your negative. A one time sexual fling, with a pos person does not always make you infected. My Ex died of HIV, yet i remained negative, after 6 years. Im still negative, yet more careful and very supportive of my buddies The only time you should be worried is if it happened in the last 6 months, the window for inaccuracy for the test. when in doubt, have the test redone. use condoms and get some counseling. if you had a test and it said negative you should be clear.... you have anxiety like I have....look on this site at the blogs it will reasure you www.medhelp.com honest answer, even if a test says u don't, symptoms can take up to 6 months to show up so get tested EVERY 6 months. you hear it all the time, just get tested. Probably the best thing anyone can tell you. Good luck. I pray you dont have it. |
