My doctor was not around but said he has to see me to get my hiv test result. i'm scared.?

Some places require the doctor to give you the information in person. If they phone you, you not home and you live with other people, then you never know who could pick up the message and spread the news.
Don't be scared, it takes a lot of courage to get tested wouldn't you want to know the results after all you have been through. Who knows it could be negative, try to think on the bright side until you get the results. At least you would know one way or the other, there are people out there who have no idea that they have an std.

Many times the CDC requires the person who gives the HIV test to do what is called pre-test and post-test counciling. If your doctor doesn't have anyone else in the office who is trained to do the counciling then he has to be there. HIV testing has alot of requirements around it because of confidentuality and because of the fact that you can test negative and still be infected. The counciling has to do with you and your doctor talking about what you think may have put you at risk and if you should be tested again soon...stuff like that.

I'm not suggesting that your test was positive but if it is, wouldn't you rather talk to the doctor than to talk to his nurse or receptionist about it? Good luck to you.

when i got tested, they told me that when they called, they wernt allowed to say "your HIV test came back negative" they could only say.. "your test results came back negative"
and they did, they told me through the phone, it was neg.
however, he also told me if it was positive, they cant tell me through the phone, they would just schedule a app. for me.

so if our doctors are doing the same thing, i would be worried.
but if its HIV and its at an early stage, it can be treatable and go away.

My 1st wife died of HIV and I have been tested so many times its not funny, it is stictly for confidentaility don't be worried unless you are sure you have been with someone that has tested positive. It is also to discuss the berhavior that brought you to this in the first place.

I'm not sure but it could just be a confidentiality thing..

I had to get some routine blood tests done and couldn't get the results over the phone or anything. I had to go to the doctor's office to get them - and the results were completely normal!
