Can any ordinary blood test detect of HIV/aids?

Can any ordinary blood test detect of HIV/aids?

No, the test for HIV is specific. It has to be ordered specifically. It is not part of general blood testing.

dun think so

The doctor must specify what needs to be looked at ST D's blood count, thyroid t4 etc..

Nope

well i LEARNED something here myself

No, the HIV test is specific to testing for HIV. You should find a local HIV test site in your community, they are free in many areas

What is an "ordinary blood test"? The lab will do whatever tests the doctor orders. HIV is not routinely done unless the doctor has a suspicion that you are at risk.

No it does not.

nope

In Massachusetts, an MD cannot order an HIV test without your consent. It is never routine blood work. You should be told you are being tested and agree to the test (if you want). No one can make you get tested as a rule. It is a special, seperate test. You can sleep with some one with AIDS or HIV and not get it after many sex acts, or you can have one sex act and get it. The same is true for sharing needles. Usually within 6-12 weeks, if you got infected, you would test positive. Just because you are negative, that does not mean your partner(s) are negative too. Negative means no HIV detected. Everyone needs their own test. If you have had unprotected sex, or an STD (sexually transmitted disease), you are at risk. HIV is an STD, just like herpes,
gonnorhrea, chlamydia etc... Condoms are your best protection, or avoiding exchange of bodily fluids.Look up Aids Action Committee for further info. I am an infectious disease RN who worked with people with HIV and Hepatitis C for many years.
P.S. People may not get sick from HIV for many years, but all of them would have tested positive for HIV 2-6 weeks after getting infected. Many people think it "hides" in your body for years, that is not true. Also, some people can get tested too soon to know they got infected. If you have unprotected sex on April 1st and get tested April 10th, you would be negative , the antibodies to test "positive can take 2-12 weeks to develop, so a retest is needed. This is called a window period. Call a local health center or an AIDS hotline for real answers.

yes it can.if you ask to be tested for hiv,or aids, they will test your blood for it and be able to tell you.hope you dont have it

kathy

no,

it is a special test that looks for the anti-body.

A regular blood test may detect the lack of white blood cells though which is an indicator of Aids and if they see ahealthy person with a low count, they would ask you to get a second AIDS test done
