If you test positive for hiv will the health department contact you imediately?

If you test positive for hiv will the health department contact you imediately?

I would hope so.....

Yes,God bless you.

Health departments are government agecies.

"immediately" and "government agecies" are two mutually exclusive terms...

i think yes...

they will do so promptly, upon receiving the results. often the test is shipped out to a big lab, so its hard to say when the results will be available

NO. But chances are that they will contact your physician and if you dont have one they will mail you a letter within two weeks. because they test it two or three times if it comes up positive

yes and stay strong and good luck

They'll ask you to come in as soon as the results come back, sometimes it can take 3-7 days for the results though. Try not to worry, all you can do is wait. Oh, and just because they call to have you come in doesn't mean you're positive either, they may just want to talk to you about how to prevent it. It can take 3-6 months after exposure to actually get a positive result, if you think you've been exposed continue testing every month or every other month till you reach the 6 month mark just to be sure! Good luck!

It depends on your local state/provincial laws.

Most places have privacy laws that don't allow health care workers to contact you for medical test results in case someone you don't want to know picks up the phone or gets the letter first (like your mom/dad/bf/gf/brother/sister/roommate/ch...

And with call display what it is now, many are prevented from even just calling your house due to the possibility of someone figuring it out.

I assume you are asking for yourself... Good luck with those results!
