How long after exposure to HIV would you test positive if you became infected?

How long after exposure to HIV would you test positive if you became infected?

The generally accepted time frame in the medical profession is 3 - 6 months. If you believe that you may be at risk, it is recommended you get tested immediately. If the test comes back negative, it is suggested that you get tested every 6 months thereafter for a period of two years. Obviously this is not fool proof. As stated previously, the virus has been shown to lie dormant in some individuals for extended periods of time. The bottom line ... if you are sexually active (regardless of the number of partners) it is recommended that you get tested every six months.

Todd (AIDS - positive since 2004)

I thought it was about 6 months...not 100% sure.

I've also heard 6 months

The HIV virus can remain dormant in your body up to six years. I don't think it takes that long for most people.

3-6 months

Hi, Im Not A Docter Or Nothing,But From What I Knw, It Can Come Within Weeks, Or It Can Take Months!! When Gettin Test They Say It Will Probably Show Within 6 Months!

If you think you have been exposed immediately go to a hospital or emergency room within 72 hours and ask for treatment. If treated early on you have a much better chance of not contracting HIV, don't wait until it's too late and you have HIV. They (hospital) have to provide treatment if you think you've been infected.

i heard that it could be years and things are normal and you feel great and then the test are positive

then they can tell by dna the strane
