Hiv/aid's test...?

how many tubes of blood do they take for this...can the also what do the T's stand for on the blood work script??...like,T1,T3....stuff like that ....what do they look for in blood work without you telling them to look for,...in other words,...when you go for your checkup sometimes doctors request blood work...what do they look for?...I'm very nervous..please help!

For an AIDS test, they only take one tube of blood. From what you described, I don't think they took an AIDS test I think they took some blood work. That is different when they take blood work. I have enclosed some very good links for you. The first one is about the AIDS test and how to interpret it. The second one is how to interpret all of the blood work tests that they do. (look under thyroid in the second link, hopefully the T1 T3 stuff should look familiar) What they test for in blood work is your sugar levels, all of your mineral levels, (like calcium, potassium etc) The T1 and T3 stuff is where they check your thyroid and make sure its doing the job right. There is a complete list in the link for blood work of what they all test for. The next time you go to the doctor do not be afraid to ask WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU TESTING AND WHY?? This is your body and you shouldn't be afraid of stuff like this. They only do an AIDS test if you request it and if the doctor feels you needed it he/she would tell you straight out that is what you need. THEY CANT just take and AIDS test without your knowledge. Blood tests however, get pretty routine for most doctors and some won't mention the details unless they find something wrong. But that doesn't mean that they shouldn't explain what they are testing if you aren't sure. I hope this helps.

its a very scary thing... more scary than a pregnancy test... try not to worry. for most blood tests that i've done, its 3 or 4 things of blood......you dont really feel it, and it doesnt really matter. just know that you're doing this for your health and safety.

When you go for a checkup and your doctor draws blood, the reason is usually related to why you're at the doctor's in the first place. For example, when I go to see my gynaecologist for my annual checkup, she usually takes my blood to check my iron level.

Your doctor will only perform an AIDS test if you request one. I don't think they randomly draw your blood to perform an AIDS test without your knowledge/approval.

As for the technical stuff (the T's etc.) I can't help you there. However I will say, if you're sexually active you should get tested, even if you're nervous. It takes a few minutes (they usually just draw one tube of blood) and you get your results back in about a week and a half. It's better (for your sanity) to know your status for sure than to be wondering.

they check blood for all type of stuff.sometime they check for HIV to.why are you so afraid.are you afraid that they may found HIV in your blood.i pray and hope they don't.but if they do at least you can go get the help you need.that can help you live longer.i wish my sister would have got tested in time.so she could have know that she had aids.but she was very afraid to get checked.and one day she became very sick.and we took her to the doctor.we found out that she had aids.she die a week later.we did'nt know that she had this stuff.she look the same everytime we seem her.she left 4 kids behind.honey get the help if you think you have hiv.please.i will be praying for you.but i do pray that you don't have it.

Testing for Hiv/Aids cannot be done without the person's request or permission. One tube is all that is drawn. T cell count is an important guideline when one is infected.
