Jackie is right, if someone wants to be tested for HIV or STD's, they have to specifically ask for that test to be run. Those tests are also not routinely run for women during their annual pap test unless the women asks for it.

I may be reading more into your question that you asked, but if you are this man's significant other, BE CAREFUL, and perhaps, depending on the circumstances, you should get the tests.

The standard physical form in most instances does not include a space for testing requirements. However, in the history section, there are oten questions that address a man's risk for HIV or STD infection. If after answering these questions, it's determined that the man is at high risk for either of the two, then it may be highly recommended that further testing be done.

On the other hand, there are many countries that require HIV testing be completed as part of a standard physical, prior to travel. Some require testing if you plan to stay longer than a month, some if you plan to go to school abroad, some for work permits/visas.

HIV testing is also required for newborn babies in most states.
