Sally lives with her mother. She wants an HIV test but is afraid her mother or her employer will somehow learn? |
the results, especially if they have to be reported to health officals. Sally should Sally should definitely not be afraid of her mother and her employer. Not to scare Sally, but her life is on the line. Her health and well being overpower the opinions of her mother and her employer. Her life is more important. Her employer and mom might get angry with her and make her life terrible for a period of time, but that will pass. It's not worth it for her to put her life on the line. I don't know where Sally lives, but I have seen and heard of many places where teens can go and get HIV tests done for free. Unlike their family doctor, they don't have to give their identity. The spokesperson said that you can identify yourself as Spiderman, and you would be around the 150th Spiderman they had in their clinic. They don't need your identity, you don't have to pay, and they don't contact anybody if you are not in some huge danger- not like medically, but physical danger for example sexual abuse etc. Sally should for sure try to find out if there is a clinic around where she lives that could do this for her. She could lie to the doctor's about her identity, but that would be difficult. If they are strict about patients' identities, then they would probably need papers and identification of some sort. It isn't an easy task to trick doctors. B sounds like a good option, but I'm not sure if she could get the doctor to sign anything like that and how much that actually would be worth if the information was revealed. Out of the options given I'd have to say that C sounds like the best one to me. D isn't good at all because once the information is out, Sally would have to lie and pile on lie on top of the other and be stuck in a whirlwind of lies. It could probably very easily be proven that there was no mistaken identity and Sally would lose the trust of her mother and employer. Whatever Sally chooses to do, she should carefully consider the consequences of each choice and choose carefully her next actions. b |
