When you have a blood test, such as an HIV blood test, would it say if you've contracted a STD other than HIV? No they will only test for the STD's requested by the doctor. I work in a lab that tests for STD's. Tests for other STD's cannot be performed if they haven't been requested. Only if they are looking for other stds. No, you have to get tested for each STD. HIV test only test for HIV. No. The test for HIV is specific for that one condition. There are other tests for different STDs. You will only see results for tests that your doctor has ordered. If the doc orders only HIV, that is the only result you will get. Generally, most STD's are found through pap smears, and/or scraping of the inside of the male's urethra. When you're having an HIV test, they typically only test for HIV, unless otherwise instructed No they usually are specific when they test for HIV. Some STD's require a urine culture. You can usually request to have tests ran for all the STD's. No, you need to be tested for each STD. Plus, most STD's (other than HIV/Aids) are found through a genital exam (i.e a pap smear) there is different tests for each one . my opion? There are different tests for different std's . However there is no test out there that can tell you if you have HIV. You see what happens is this when HIV enters your body your body rapidly develops HIV antibodies to fight the virus. So the tests out there are designed to detect HIV antibodies. So if there are HIV antibodies then that means that chances are you are infected with HIV. |
