How can someone with HIV consistently test Negative using an ELISA test? |
I'm not trying to fool an HIV test, but thank you for that vote in the human race. The ELISA test has been used for long in the diagnosis of HIV. Over the years, this test has been modified and made more sensitive.Older ELISAs utilize chromogenic substrates, though newer assays employ fluorogenic substrates with much higher sensitivity. So, in answer to your question, it depends on which type of ELISA test you performed. ELISA results are also reported as a number; the most controversial aspect of this test is determining the "cut-off" point between a positive and negative result.. wow, if you are HIV positive and trying to fool a test, you must really be a horrible person Yes, tests may give false positives or negatives, especially older types of ELSA tests. Get to a health clinic which is up to date with modern testing! Good Luck! An ELISA detects antibodies to HIV. There are a few diseases, infectious and genetic, the significantly reduce the number of antibodies present in the blood stream. AIDS itself, in the final stages, will cause this effect. If a person had a disease affecting their immune system, it could make the ELISA show as non-reactive, or negative. |
