Husband clear for STDs - does that mean I am clear too?

A year ago I found out my husband (now my ex) had been having an affair. I asked him to get tested at the local hospital's gum clinic for sexually transmitted diseases and HIV. I went with him to get his results and they all came back clear (negative). Does this mean that I have nothing to worry about? - or could he have passed something on to me without having contracted it/ tested positive himself? - And would they have tested him for everything that I might have caught from him - or should I get tested too?

Yes you need to get tested. stds do not always show up right away. a person can have herpes and never ever have an outbreak. a person can have other stds and it shows up a year later or so. please you should get tested.

There are things that they don't usually test for - like genital herpes.

And further, unless you've been tested, or he is the only person you've ever been sexual with, you can't know for sure that you're clean. You could have an STD that you caught before you met.

I would go get tested myself, just to be completely on the safe side. Also, since he is now your ex, you'll be able to tell future lovers that you've been tested recently and that you have no STDs.
