Question about acute HIV rash?

i know that a common symptom that shows up usually about 4-6 weeks after infection is a macupocular rash. i have had red, blotchy spots on the soles of my feet, but they aren't really on the surface of my feet, but more like "inside" if that makes any sense. the rash went away after a day and then reappeared. so my question is do acute hiv rashes usually reappear and disappear so quickly?

i have also recently started swimming and the weather here is very moist and hot. i'm not allergic to anything in the pool, but is it possible that one way or another that might have to do with it?

*on a side note, i've already gotten tested for hiv, but i have to wait a few days for the results.*

That rash seems more like you are coming into contact with something you are allergic to, rather than an HIV related symptom. The swimming pool just may have something to do with it - perhaps the concrete is cleaned with a chemical you are allergic to. Don't jump to conclusions and don't look for bad news. A rash can be indicative of dozens of things, not just HIV.

The real question is are you doing things that expose you to HIV infection? These are unprotected sex (no condoms), intravenous drug use, or (now very rare) transfusion with infected blood or contact with infected blood/body fluid via a needle prick/cleaning of medical instruments. These are the only means of transmission, and if you are practicing unsafe sex, you are basically asking to die.

I lived in San Francisco from 1979 through 2004 and basically had a front row seat as AIDS devastated the community. I watched as thousands (literally thousands - from 1980 to 1990 San Francisco lost 1% of its population to AIDS- 6000 + people) become ill and slowly die, buried dozens of my friends and did what I could to help hundreds deal with the disease. One of my best friends is a long term HIV/AIDS survivor. This is no joking matter, so if you aren't taking care of yourself, please do - use a condom every time, no matter what. If you shoot drugs, use your own rig and clean it with bleach and hot water every time. Do not share your rigs.

unfortunately I was going to say go to the doctor and get tested. you already did that. So, I'd wait for the results. When the doc calls you to tell you the results, tell him about the rash, whether the test came back positive or negative. Regardless of the test, you'll want to get your feet checked out before it gets any worst.
