HIV/AIDS Test?

I had unprotected sex on Saturday and I need to know how soon I can go to get tested to obtain accurate results.

Rarely rarely rarely does it take "years" for someone to show HIV positive. It's more like 3 months, tops. I worked in a lab for 5 years, and we would run a test in the beginning just to make sure they weren't HIV positive to begin with should they need to notify their partner, then again at 3 months. You can even request another at one year without a problem with insurance.

Rest easy - the odds are your safe. But get checked regardless.

As for all of you calling the OP dumb - like you never had unprotected sex? I'd wager half of you have. I have, but I ended up marrying the guy. But I didn't have that forsight at the time.

But regardless - plan ahead for the next time and carry condom. Better safe then sorry.

well sorry for u! AIDS and HIV doesnt show up on some people for yrs! How u dont get and STD either! Besides the point of maybe having a baby!

First off...having unprotected sex was stupid! HIV may not show up for weeks/months/years...and you can be either positive or negative. Is your partner positive? Pregnant? Dumb move dude! :O(

wait for another six months and get tested.

Hi,

First things first.. which part of the world do you live? If you live in any industrialized country like the United States or the UK, the chances that your partner had Aids is 1 in 10,000. Assuming your partner was HIV positive.. the chances of you contracting aids is about 1 in 1,000. So firstly relax.. your chances of contracting aids from a single vaginal sex encounter are low (Source: H. Hunter Handsfield and Edward W Hook, http://www.medhelp.org/forums/HIV/wwwboa... So pleae relax. You probably didn't catch HIV.

2. There are two kinds of HIV tests. The first type identifies antibodies that your body will generate if there is an HIV infection. 99% of people will test positive at the end of 8 WEEKS. So you can go have a Western Blot or ELISA test at the end of 8 weeks.

3. If you are develop any symptoms of HIV infection such as sore throat, rashes, fever or enlarged lymph nodes, you can ask your doctor to give you a P4 test that basically detects viruses in your blood and can identify positive results in 2 weeks after infection.

Please relax.. and be careful hencefoth. Don't play the number game. Use a condom. All the best.

Sounds like you had a one night stand, are you trying to die?

AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
