HIV rapid tests can give you a result in 10 to 20 minutes. HOWEVER, you still need to set aside time for couseling should you turn up positive. Usually, sites that do rapid tests will have a HIV counselor on hand to talk to you about the results.

Sometimes, false positives do happen, and in case you get a positive result from OraQuick, you will need to follow up with a standard HIV blood test within a week or so.

In general, it's good to maintain a semi-annual HIV/STD testing schedule.
