HIV rapid test question? |
I took an HIV rapid test a while back in which the results came back negative, but lately I have been a little paranoid. I am not worried about the accuracy of the test itself, but whether or not I did it right. I went to the clinic and did the one where you put a swab in your mouth. I have been having these worries though that maybe I did not swab good enough. Are my worries justified? Is it possible to just have it touch your gums and have it be accurate? It was a long time ago so I do not remember how good a swabbed it...would that even make a difference? If there wasn't enough biological sample the test would come back indeterminate, not negative. You shouldn't worry about whether you did not swab good enough. With one swab of your gum, you've obtained tons of DNA cells that are needed to test for HIV. If your results came back negative, congratulations! No need to be paranoid. it shouldn't matter how good you swabbed it because with one swab you get enough to tell you if you have aids. As someone who teaches agencies to do the rapid test, it sounds like you were fine. just a light touch as you rub the swab across your gums will do it. Don't worry if it came back negative, then its negative. I think the test is accurate. I think your worrying to much, you haven't felt any symptoms so your fine. |
