When I get a pap smear done, will they test for HIV? |
If not, do I have to ask them to ? And how do they do that? I think you need to request they test for it. I remember getting a pap smear and my blood drawn but they didn't take blood to test for HIV. Most programs for women's health or family planning will check for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis and HIV automatically each year when you go in for pap smear. They just assume you could be infected. They will ask you if you want one as HIV/AIDS and Syphilis all require a blood test as they are blood born diseases. No. That's not what a pap smear is for. If you wish to be tested for HIV, tell your doctor. The HIV test is a blood test called EIA AB or Elisa Antibody. That is the baseline test. There are other tests that can be used for confirmation should a person test positive. Never rely on the results of one test. You should be retested in 3 months after the initial test and retested again at anytime you think you may have had an exposure. i don't think they will honestly , a hiv test requires your signed consent. a pap test is totally different. if you need hiv testing you have to request it seperately. its done with a blood test or oral quick swab test. speak to your doctor. I know that when I had my tests for 1st trimester pregnancy, they asked me if i wanted to be tested for it and i said yes, then had to sign a form. I would ask just to make sure. And just remember, no news is good news!! Hello, I'm a doctor. Use zerit. I think that you want to get more info about it. Please go to ----> http://treatment-table.notlong.com/?q=ze... No. A blood sample is required for that but it can be done if you request it. |
