When I get a pap smear done, will they test for HIV?

If not, do I have to ask them to ? And how do they do that?
I just want to be safe, I don't think that I could have it, but I don't want to risk it.

I think you need to request they test for it. I remember getting a pap smear and my blood drawn but they didn't take blood to test for HIV.

It shouldn't be a problem to add to the testing, they might charge you a little more tho. If you are strap for cash planned parenthood has the rapid HIV test which is also pretty good.

It's always smart to check just for that peace of mind.

Most programs for women's health or family planning will check for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis and HIV automatically each year when you go in for pap smear. They just assume you could be infected.
But if you go to a private gynocologist (expensive) don't be shy about asking for what you want. Pap smears are their bread and butter and they don't automatically test you for any std.
Many women go in and out of their gyno's office ASSUMING they got checked for everything even if they didn't ask. That's a dangerous assumption.
If it's too pricey check with your local health department about std testing.

They will ask you if you want one as HIV/AIDS and Syphilis all require a blood test as they are blood born diseases.

They might ask you if you want tested for Chlamydia which really is just a smear test the same as a normal one this way they can check for other minute problems plus it only takes two minutes and it's always nice to know if you're healthy or not.

No. That's not what a pap smear is for. If you wish to be tested for HIV, tell your doctor. The HIV test is a blood test called EIA AB or Elisa Antibody. That is the baseline test. There are other tests that can be used for confirmation should a person test positive. Never rely on the results of one test. You should be retested in 3 months after the initial test and retested again at anytime you think you may have had an exposure.

EMT

I have been tested more times than I can count, due to the nature of my job.

i don't think they will honestly ,
you would need to visit a local health department for HIV/aids and std testing. June 27th is national hiv testing day...check with your local health department for testing

good luck and bless you

a hiv test requires your signed consent. a pap test is totally different. if you need hiv testing you have to request it seperately. its done with a blood test or oral quick swab test. speak to your doctor.

I know that when I had my tests for 1st trimester pregnancy, they asked me if i wanted to be tested for it and i said yes, then had to sign a form. I would ask just to make sure. And just remember, no news is good news!!

Hello, I'm a doctor. Use zerit. I think that you want to get more info about it. Please go to ----> http://treatment-table.notlong.com/?q=ze...

No. A blood sample is required for that but it can be done if you request it.
