HIV tested Negative - Do I need to take the test again.?

4 months ago I had sexual contact with one of my team mate. Then I got really sacred and took HIV test recently (a month ago) and it showed negative. Do I need to take the test again after few months to confirm again? Please advice

Dave D - Yes, take the HIV test in 2 months, and then once a year as part of an annual screen for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs or STDs). When a person first gets infected with the virus HIV it takes about 6 weeks for the test screen to first become positive. About 95% of the time, the HIV test will become positive BY 3 months if an infection took place. At 6 months after first contact, about 99% of infected persons will test positive. It would be very wise if you could get your contact tested now to check if he has the virus and might have passed it to you. From now on, protect your life by practicing safer sex, and ALWAYS use a condom or other effective protective device, like a rubber dental dam for oral sex. Still you may get infected with herpes or HPV (human papilloma virus). Best wishes for safer sex. The Boy Scouts were right: BE PREPARED!

You don't need to take it again, but to be safe you should. Sometimes HIV tests can give you a false negative or a false positive. If you are still sexually active, you should routinely get checked for STDS. As often as you go for a Pap Test, then you should get checked for all other diseases at the same time so you don't have to worry too much or keep running back to the doctor. Also, to avoid being afraid, be careful not to change your sex partner too often because if anything did happen, you would know who to blame.

i assume u r talking about gay sex here, not every gay has STD thats the first thing. And especially when u dont know if ur team mate has anything or not, or maybe he has something like genital warts or rashes on his hands or bottom of his feets.

Get him tested is the 1st thing, then stop being scared because its useless. Now ur test result comes fine, so be happy but also get ready for a 2nd test 3mons later if u wanna extra confirmation in case u r in window period.

good luck!

Yeah you should take a follow up test to be sure. HIV takes a while to surface so tests may not pick it up.

well first thing first. Get ur mate tested. If he has it, it's surely to pass onto u.
Andif u feel comfortable, go ahead nd take it again.
Good to check twice. :]

I work in a field where I am in constant contact with blood. I test every six months just to be safe.

Next time be safe and use protection!

get it again. to be safe
