Can HIV Elisa test still be accurate after sero-conversion? |
What is time frame after sero conversion that ELISA will not detect HIV antigen? I heard after a sero-conversion - lets say a year out... ELISA will not detect antigen. Western Blot is most accurate for determining HIV in the West? What if I may have caught HIV in the Far East. Do they have Eastern Blot? Please advise if you see misconceptions in my understanding - thankyou The ELISA HIV tests are accurate after six months from your last possible exposure. So if you had contact six months ago in the Far East and have not had another exposure, then your test would be accurate. Almost everyone would develop HIV antibodies within six months and that is what the ELISA test is looking for. This applies to everyone except the extremely immunosuppressed, and if this was you, you would know. Trust your test results and trust your doctor.
