If you are sexually active, how much importance do you put on getting and HIV test regardless or orientation?

My feeling is that it is a responsible thing to do. What do you think?

Very important. Right now I have more friends with HIV than I care to mention. One of them just had a baby yesterday. It has the potential to touch everyone.
I am in a monogomous relationship but I work in healthcare so I get tested every two years.

anyone who has sex with multiple partners..regardless of orientation... should be tested regularly... at least every 6 months... I happen to be in a committed, loving, monogamous relationship... so we can have all we want... guilt and disease free.. : P....

I actually never thought about the possibility of getting aids, I think I'll get checked out in the new year.

With 1 in 10 American's infected, and over half of them don't know it, I wasn't taking any chances. I also never had sex without a condom regardless of if I was on birth control or not.

I get tested for HIV once a year, even though I know it really should be done twice a year (every 6 months). And it definitely is a responsible thing to do.

One can be sexually active without engaging in risky behavior. Mutual masturbation, for example.

However, your point is well taken. Because the virus can lay dormant for years, it's the responsible thing to do to be tested at minimum every six months.

When I was single I was tested every 6 months. The person I am with did the same also. When we first got together, we both got tested and shared our results. We have been together for 2 years now.

When i'm not in a relationship and i'm just having flings i get full STD tests every 3months, if i'm in a relationship i insist on both of us getting tested before having unprotected sex.

It's very important. I'm in a monogamous relationship with a woman who is now my wife. I made the statement that if we are to go any further in our relationship, we both need to get tested. She agreed and thought it was very important as well.

Even when I wasn't in a relationship ( I have gone through a two year period where I wasn't dating or being intimate) I got tested at least once a year for general principle. It's important to me being honest to others I'm in a relationship with about my status. I'm negative, BTW.
