Syringes are not reused. Why would they reuse a syringe? That's crazy. She should probably have another test in about 6 months to make sure she wasn't infected if a syringe was reused. There should be a recepticle in each room and as soon as the needle and syringe unit is used, it is disposed intact in the room. Gone are the days when glass syringes and resharpened needles were sterilized and used again. they're breaking the law if they reuse a syringe.
