Should healthcare workers undergo medical testing specifically HIV test? |
Why Yes & Why No well if we go with that then we would have to expand over to other fields as well, i feel it compromises the persons rights...restaurant people who handle your food, police officers who deal with crimes that involve blood, spit , urine, prison guards, drug testing personal at independent companies,etc...a person can catch hep band c from touching food from a person with the disease, so if you waitress and refill the drink, have to clean the bathrooms etc you re in fact at risk...if medical personal should be tested so should ever one who is at risk for spreading and getting such diseases. It is fact the common cold is one of the most deadliest of them all and that is air born Virtually all healthcare workers are regularly tested for TB, and most are required to be vaccinated for hepatitis and to demonstrate appropriate anti-hepatitis titers. If a healthcare worker has been exposed to HIV by blood-or-body fluid exposure, he/she should be tested and treated appropriately. However, a healthcare worker's HIV status remains confidential, and has no impact on his/her credentials or privileges. Furthermore, no healthcare worker may be compelled to submit to an HIV test, nor is there any need to do so. When universal precautions are maintained, the risk infection of patients by HIV+ healthcare workers virtually nil. |
