If your HIV virus load is undecidable and you took a HIV test would that test come back negative? HIV tests do not look for HIV itself. Rather, they test for HIV antibodies. So viral load is irrelevant becuase the antibodies should be present if HIV infection has occurred, even if the viral load has been suppressed by antiretrovirals. not if you were positive. There are no false positives with this one... it could come back negative, coz the virus could stay latent for the 1st period. Good question. You probably mean if the viral load is undetectable... and yes, the test would still be positive because the tests, the Elisa and the Western Blot, looks for not the actual HIV but the antibodies to HIV. No matter how low the viral load, the antibodies will always be present. yes. The tests used to diagnose HIV infection dont look for the virus itslef, but for the antibodies. And if one has hiv, these antibodies are present and are detectable always. |
