Can you use Saliva to test for HIV,HPV & Herpes? |
Ok someone told me that you can take a saliva test to test for HIV,HPV & Herpes is that true or do you need to have a blood test ? YES IT IS TRUE THEY CAN. YOU ALWAYS HEARD YOU CAN SPREAD HIV THUR THE SALIVA. AS A NURSE IN A HOSPITAL WE NEVER LET THE SALIVA TOUCH US OR THE TEARS FROM THE TEAR DUCKS. BUT YOUR MOST ACCURATE TEST IS THE BLOOD. BUT YOU CAN DETECT WITH THE SWABBING yes it can. the disease not only travels through blood, but also through saliva. I know for sure about HIV - I think you get results almost immediately, too. They advertise it once a month at my school. Not sure. for HIV yah you first take a saliva test n then they test it and if your results come out positive they do a blood test to see if they are right. Herpes is pretty much a rash so if you think you have a rash get it checked out it could be herpes you have to have a blood test, herpes of the mouth you could do a saliva test but HPV is a virus that lives in the skin not the blood so you would have to give a small tissue sample(skin) and HIV is in the blood and is hard enough to see sometimes as it is ,trying to test for it in the small amount that would be in saliva would be very inaccurate you would have false negatives all the time. blood tests and biopsies are the proper way to test for those std's Saliva and blood samples for HIV or Herpes...but as for as HPV goes there is no FDA approved test for the male. A doc or clinic can do the vinegar wrap and look at the penis and scrotum with a magnifying glass....this is good the day of the test and is looking for low risk genital warts manifestations.... |
