Teen hiv/aids test question?

ok. so im 15, male.
ive had 9 sexual partners and i havent yet been tested for aids/hiv.
can someone explain to me how the process works to get a test and if im too young to be taking one?

&&;; all the sex was protected
and please dont criticize me over my number of sexual partners
:] and how much blood?

Was this sex protected? Were condoms involved???

It does make a HUGE difference.

Since you are so concerned, then you should make an appointment and get tested.

I hope every thing turns out the way you want it to.

You go to the clinic and they take your blood. That's about it. Then in about ten days you get the results. And no, you aren't too young for the test, but you are too young to be having sex with so many people, especially unprotected sex. Just my opinion, though~

You need to go to the nearest Dr. office to get some blood drawn!! That is how they determine the results for the test!! You have had a lot of partners for your age so I would suggest going right away!! It doesn't take long to do and your test comes back in 3-5 weeks!!! Good luck and always use protection to reduce your chances of getting it!!:)(:

Dude, you NEED to be tested.

Look in the phone book, or on-line, for your local health clinic. Then go get tested ASAP.

God bless.

you need to take one. go to ur doc. and ask for one. they will draw blood and send it out. they will call you back if its postive. very scary 2 week wait.

If you've had nine sexual partners, I sure hope you've used condoms. If not, please do in the future. I know teens think they're invincible, but, your one of the fastest growing group of people with aids. Hope all is well.

You can have a test done at a hospital or an anonymous testing center. The advantage of the anonymous center is that it will not go onto your medical record by default, although it is a reportable disease.

There are a few different tests that you can have done. The thing you need to understand is the window period. This is the time between exposure and when your body starts making antibodies that will appear on a test. The window period is generally considered to be a maximum of 3 months, usually it is on the order of a few weeks, but for safety sake it is 3 months in most countries and often cited as 6 months in the US.

Most blood tests are called EIA (they consist of a simple enzyme test that is designed to give a high degree of accuracy with false positives instead of negatives) after the enzyme assay any sample that tests reactive will be sent for a Western Blot tests (this matches marker bands and will confirm positive or negative statues based on the reactions). A negative EIA 3 months post exposure is considered negative for HIV.

There are also quick tests like Oraquick, which is a rapid test that can give results in minutes. The fast/rapid tests are best for hospital situations and if you test positive on one of those you should have an EIA done, as they err on the side of false positives much more so than EIAs.

Make sure that you have an HIV 1 and HIV 2 with O test done if you want to have all your fears put to rest.

The test is simple, worrying about it is complex. Get tested.

The best source I have seen for HIV testing information is thebody.

See reference and read the questions and answers in the link to the SafeSex forum (this is about testing and sex).

Good Luck.

It is best you check it out there aint any problem to check for HIV/AIDS but there is some problem with having 9 sexual partner especially when you are 15.You are putting yourself into a very high risk of getting them.

Call your local public health center or even planned parenthood anonymously for info on testing. I am not judging your actions, but you do need to understand the risks of STDs and pregnancy.

It is difficult to accurately assess people's sexual behavior, since there are strong social and personal motivations to either minimize or exaggerate reported sexual activity, depending on social sanctions and taboos. The best statistics of human sexual behavior are derived from research into sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Extensive research has been conducted to study different mathematical models of sexual behavior and to compare the results generated with the observed prevalence of STDs to try to estimate the probable actual sexual behavior of the population.

People's numbers of sexual partners, both over their lifetime and concurrently, varies widely within any population. In the US, the median number of lifetime female sexual partners for men was seven; the median number of male partners for women was four. 29 percent of men and 9 percent of women say they鈥檝e had 15 or more partners.[1] Studies of the spread of STDs have consistently shown that a small minority of the population have more partners than the average, and a small minority have less than the average.

Every time you have any unprotected contact, you are taking a risk. The risk of STDs can be thought of like this --- every unprotected contact you have that exchanges ANY bodily fluids is an exposure. It is the same for all of your partner's previous partners. So in a sense, it's like having contact with all of your previous partner's partners. It only takes one to be infected and you are at risk. For pregnancy, it only takes one sperm .............

You are not too young, sometime babies are even tested. Blood draw is all that is needed. You can go to a health clinic or your doctor. Your risk is somewhat dependent on the number of partners you have had, but is more focused whether your are having homosexual or heterosexual, vaginal or anal sex, and your drug use status. HIV should not be your only concern. Hep B is more deadly and more frequent. You probably need a full STD work up. Good Luck.
