About hiv test? |
when should get tested for hiv and std after the sexual contact you needn't to hurry, because if the virus get into your body, it needs time first to survive itself throught immune system, so i think you need to wait. once, such accident happened just on a friend of mine on positivesingles.com, she just went to the dr. immediately after having sex with her bf, because she was worrying about been infected. the test showed she was all right, but the fact was just another way around. so i think it's a pity that she became a HIV positive. Experts agree that one HIV test is not enough. A series of tests is required to assure that you are indeed HIV negative. It is recommended that you be tested at the time of exposure, 6 weeks later, 3 months after exposure and finally some even believe that a test at 6 months post exposure is necesssary. Note that if another potential exposure occurs during the series of tests, the series must start over. If you are HIV negative after the 6 month test you can consider yourself not HIV infected. you befor sexual contact and the you have will be test I agree with holladol.. The series of tests is the most important. It's also important to know that some people get the flu thing 2-4 weeks after exposure. Also, according to the CDC website, about 97% of people will show antibodies in a hiv test 3 months after infection. The ones where it takes up to 6 months are considered rare cases, but everyone is different. I would say by end of month 3, if you haven't had any signs, sicknessess, rashes etc, you should be good to go. (That's my personal opinion- as I get sick being around my nephew if he has a runny nose. We all react different to it). As for other STD's, depends on which one you are talking about. Just go to a clinic or doctors office. That is the safest way to go. The virus will not show up on the test until a few months after it is contracted. And even then it might not be accurate. It is better to just avoid having sex in the first place :-) with most std's you can get tested right after intercourse to see if you got anything. but with hiv you have to wait a certain time period, and then re-test again a couple of months later. although its very rare, sometimes HIV can't be detected until 6 months after infection. However, most cases are identified within the 3 month time period. 6 months |
