What happens during an HIV test??

I'm just wondring what happens when you go take an HIV test thanks in advanced

You just ususally give blood and they either 1) do a rapid test and let you know your results or 2) send the blood away and you have to wait a week for results. (this is the norm) In either case you usually have to sign a waiver of confidentiality.... meaning they want to know what number etc to call w/ results. Good luck to ya!

They draw your blood. That's pretty much it. You get the results in a few days or a week or however long it takes.

There are 2 different tests, the blood test and the oral swab.

The blood test can take a few days to come back.

The oral swab will show results in 25 minutes.

If you wait at the clinic you can get your results back in as little as 20 minutes some places.
