WILL AN HIV TEST DETECT AIDS?/ 10 points!!? |
i know hiv and aids are different but will an hiv-1 test detect aids or not? state your knowledge and where you got your info from, thanks! NO! Once you have a positive HIV test, other blood test will be taken to see how much virus is in your system and how many t-cells(the cells that the virus attacks and mutates) your body has. Your are considered to have AIDS once meds no longer help and you have a high viral load and a low t-cell count. AIDS is advanced end stage HIV. So all thought they are "different" they are one in the same. HIV test will determine if you have the human immunodeficiency virus. HIV virus may or may not convert (evolve) to full blown aids. (u can find lots of info on Internet) No, The test tells you if you are positive for the virus that eventually can lead to AIDS if not treated. An "HIV test" tells you if you have ever been exposed to the HIV virus (the tests depend upon your immune system's response to the exposure). More than 15% of people exposed to the virus never ever develop any illness or symptoms for some reason. Of the remaining, if the virus successfully attacks the immune system, the patient can get a syndrome whereby he is susceptible to infections and conditions (like Kaposi's sarcoma) that normally don't develop if he is otherwise healthy. That's AIDS. |
