Hiv test wait period ? |
Is it useless to get an hiv test 35days after exposure being that everyone says u have to wait 3 months ? No it is not useless. The place I go to get my annual test says that the antibodies usually appear within 2 to 6 weeks. Actually I've been tested at the 6 week period and they tell me not to worry, that I don't have it. They told me that it's rare that a person doesn't develop antibodies within those 6 weeks but the CDC has to be on the safe side and go by the book to avoid legal troubles. If I were you, I would go at the 6 week mark and if you're still concerned, go back in 3 months after that test. Veronique is correct. Most people (75%) seroconvert (make enough antibodies for the test to detect) by 17-20 days post exposure. 95% by 2 months, >99% by 3 months. |
