Can autoimmune diseases affect HIV test results?

I'm not sure if I have an autoimmune disease, but I've been having a lot of symptoms such as chronic fatigue, muscle aches, joint pain, abdominal pain, mucus/fat in stool/fat by itself, diarrhea, constipation, gurgling in my throat/acid reflux/heartburn, tingling in finger/toes, balance problems, dizziness, etc...I've had a multitude of tests done. My celiac levels were slightly elevated as was my WBC count (10.9), my blood pressure was lower than normal (108 over something). Anyway, I've been having these symptoms for about a year, and in may of last year, I got cut at a manicurist's. I freaked out, so in december of last year I had an HIV test done. I got my results on 1/17/08, they were negative. But I just keep feeling worse. I'm very paranoid about getting HIV/AIDS. I'm supposed ot see the gastoenterologist again on 4/24. I was supposed to get an endoscopy & a colonoscopy done on 3/13 but I'm paranoid about catching HIV or something from unsterilized tools.

My question is, if you have other conditions such as autoimmune diseases, can they affect your HIV results? Can it result in a false negative? Are HIV test results always accurate after 6 or 7 months? Or are the tests so sensitive that they only look for HIV antibodies and no other kind of antibodies? Are people with autoimmune diseases more susceptible to contracting HIV?

Thank you!

the HIV tests specifically test for HIV antibodies, so if a person was infected long enough to develope antibodies--3 to 6 months--no other condition will cause a false negative.

and don't worry about the medical tests--there would need to be fresh blood on them for you to become infected that way (fresh as in still wet)

you will not get HIV from the doctors instruments.... relax.
negative HIV is good....

You cannot get HIV from unsterilized tools the virus cannot live on the tools long enough to infect the next person if they were failed to be cleaned. HIV can stay dormant for up to a year so you may want to get tested again. You may have an autoimmune disease.
