HIV- Testing package... does it test all Stds or just HIV?

I want to test for Stds... but i dont want to have to go to a doctor... i know there is a package out there... called HIV-testing package, however, im not sure if it only test for HIV or all STDs.. It works by sending in a sample of blood via mail and then u call for the results.... this package is sold at rite-aid, walgreens and most pharmacies... do u guys know what it exactly tests?

Hello,

If it says hiv testing then that is about it.

If you want a random testing i would suggest you going to the doctor.

Take care

I find a HIV blog and community online place. http://www.positivesingles.com...
People are enthusiastic to answer every question. Maybe you can ask there. Report It

probably just HIV, otherwise it would be labeld STD testing package.

HIV testing only tests for HIV and so the best idea would be going to walk in clinic. At least doctor from walk in clinic does not know you and they will keep this test totally confidential. You need PAP test for Stds, and blood test for HIV.

The test is only looking for the HIV virus, not any other STD. The test is just about as reliable as the one you get a the doctor but the virus can sit around for awhile in your system and you might test negative so you should always use a condom during sex.

There are free clinics you can go to if you can't afford testing. It's usually a blood and urine test, sometime they do a genital scraping to look at cellular growth, it's pretty painless.

All these tests look for the antibodies to the virus to see if your body has produced any and can tell at that time. If there are atibodies present then there is of course the greater chance of the virus being present. Most of these tests are very specific in nature as to what they are looking for. Plus it is better to get tested by a lab rather than an over the counter one. These are ok but can give false negatives or false positives as there are specific ways of testing that can only be done on a professional level. You might have HIV but not test Positive for months or even years later. Thats why it is recommended that you have at least two done within aprox. 6mtns of each other.

Your testing for other STD's are different in scope

no,its only for hiv testing other stds depend on the organism so if u like to know ur status hiv then go for it ,
otherwise go to ur hospital to test for other std
